Electronic Prescription Service

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is scheduled to go live 30th April at Rumney Primary Care Centre.

This means our GP’s will no longer have to physically print, sign and generate paper prescriptions. The prescription will be sent electronically from the surgery to the pharmacy and will remove the need for patients /pharmacies to pick up repeat prescriptions from the surgery reception.

By us moving to electronic prescriptions this should save time, help save the NHS money, enable us to be more ecofriendly by reducing paper and provide us with a fully auditable system enabling us to track prescriptions.

Below is the list of local Pharmacies who have implemented EPS.

Wellness – Newport Road

Hopwoods – Llanedeyrn

Allied - Llanrumney

Well-Wentloog Road

Well-Trowbridge

When you next visit your local pharmacy to collect your medications, please ask the pharmacy about how to nominate them which will allow you to receive your electronic prescriptions from 30th April.

Hay fever season

Hay fever is usually worse between late March and September, especially when it’s warm, humid and windy. This is when the pollen count is at its highest.

The majority of high strength treatments for hay fever are now available to purchase at your local pharmacy.  GPs will no longer be able to give routine prescriptions for hay fever treatments.

Therefore, requests for hay fever medications will be declined by the GP and you will initially be directed to your pharmacy to utilise the common ailments scheme or purchase your hay fever medication

Please do not be offended if we refer you to a pharmacy. It is important we do not use appointments for services and medications that are available at your local pharmacy. Where you try pharmacy recommended first line options and these are unsuccessful, then please contact the practice as an appointment may be required with a GP to discuss the medication.  For more information on hay fever, please visit the website below.

Adult Autism Service

The Adult Autism Service was developed after a wide ranging consultation with autistic people, parents/ carers, professionals and communities. The consultation highlighted a lack of access to appropriate assessment and support for autistic people who failed to meet the criteria for many services. Some of the key issues identified were:

  • Emotional issues such as anxiety and anger
  • Developing social and daily living skills
  • Accessing leisure and recreational activities
  • Accessing adult diagnostic assessments
  • Coping with harmful or distressing behaviours
